otc cold meds with prednisolone?

I’ve come down with the mother of all colds, there were several people at work dropping like flies over the last week or so.

Just asking if I can take otc cold meds, or is there anything I need to avoid?

Feeling very tired, achy and weak…….

Paracetamol for pain relief, gargle with salt and honey, lots of warm honey and lemon drinks for hydration. Recommended by my GP and it worked. Lots of nasty viruses about at the moment.

Paracetamol is absolutely fine…but preferably nothing with ibuprofen in it… and plenty of TLC… Hope you soon feel better 🌸

My last cold was brewing up to be horrid with a streaming nose but suddenly stopped completely missing out the entire congestion and coughing period. I was just congratulating my immune system when I thought that pred is used to reduce severe congestion. I guess it sorted me out. Hopefully you will make a sharp recovery too.

Probably better to not indulge in the complementary stuff like Echinacea and the like. Don't mix well with pred.

have you done a COVID test , symptoms of recent strain like heavy cold .

not yet, but we do have some tests here so will do one today…

Hi there,I had an unpleasant cold before Christmas.

I did the following:-

- took paracetamol every 4 to 6 hours

- gargled morning and night with salt water

- kept WELL hydrated with lots of plain drinking water

- drank a home made 'tea' made from hot water poured over a tsp of honey, some fresh squeezed lemon juice and a small piece of fresh grated ginger.

All of these things combined helped to ease the symptoms.
