I have been on 7 1/2 mg for nearly 4 weeks and doing very well. I am just finishing a course of antibiotics for a tooth infection and am having the tooth out on Thursday morning. Do I just take my normal dose with breakfast or should I up it to 8mg as a one off.

tooth extraction
hi. I had a similar situation a few months ago. And following advice from this wonderful forum I didn’t increase my dose and was fine. I also discussed it with my dentist who agreed I didn’t need to increase dose - must say I trust experience and wisdom of this forum more but it was good to have consensus.
Good luck with extraction. Heal well. GA
I had a tooth out on Tuesday and an implant at the same time. I'm currently on 1mg Prednisolone and did not increase my dose. I've had no adverse reactions and didn't need to take paracetamol for pain. I did put an ice pack on my cheek during the evening (frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel) which I found to be beneficial. Good luck.
1/2mg won't make much difference so it is up to you.
I have had a wisdom tooth and a molar out while on pred - never even thought of taking extra pred to be honest. I was terrified the first time - no bother at all the second.
I have had 2 extractions since I have had PMR /GCA. Each time the dentist and rheumatologist advised me to take an extra 5mg pred on the day - once from 15mg to 20mg and more recently from zero pred to 5mg. I was fine on each occasion and I'm sure you will be, whatever you do. Is it too late to ask advice from your 'team'?
All the best for tomorrow.
thank you for your reply. My dentist doesn’t anticipate any problems but said if my blood pressure drops afterwards just take some extra pred.
