I’m in my sixth year of Polymyalgia and have tapered to 6.5mgs Pred. I’m 76, arthritis in the family, so not surprised at some stiffness - not the hideous bilateral pre Pred pain thank goodness! However, I have sharp pain from my the base of my right hand wrist leading up to the mound under my right thumb. I know I’ll have to see my GP - with a bit of luck and a prevailing wind - I just wondered if this was familiar to anyone of you out there and if so what you did to help yourself as we can’t take ibuprofen. Thanks 😀

It could be muscle weakness from activity, Pred causes this. Have you been lugging Christmas decorations around? Have a look at the posts, they appear on the right of my iPad screen. There is useful information in these threads.
You can use ibuprofen gel or another muscle gel without that drug in it - Pernaton Green Lipped Muscle Extract for example. * or even mussel…..
Or if you think it might be osteoarthritis, Flexiseq…
But would agree with SheffieldJane does sound a bit more muscular - I recently had similar and I think it’s because I have upgraded iPad - slightly larger with a heavier case and I lifted it a bit awkwardly….
I get pain there - always been part of my PMR. It is improved now since the pain clinic said to use an NSAID 2x daily - not ibuprofen and not available in the UK so no point me saying what. It could be OA but not sure.
Thanks! Over-use with Christmas clearing rings a bell 😀. I still like to do as much as I can before asking for help. I’ll give it a while and see if it calms down. It would be very sudden and very specific for OA I think - and hope 🙃
