Hi all- I was tapering quite well and down to 6.5mg. Now I’m waking up with wrist pain. At first it was mainly in the right wrist but over the last few days it’s affecting both. It feels like I’ve sprained both wrists and in the morning can barely lift the kettle. It eases as the day goes on and the pred kicks in. There is very minor stiffness in hips and overall shoulders seem ok. I’m thinking this must be a flare up but in reading this forum I haven’t read much about people having per pain in the wrists. I wondered if anyone has experienced this?

Wrist Pain
You must have missed quite a few threads where quite a few people have asked about wrist pain! For me - and for a lot of others - wrist pain is a failsafe sign I'm hatching a flare. I actually develop wrist pain in response to weather changes but that varies. Wrist pain with a flare or if the dose is a bit on the low side is more persistent and a bit different.
Yes I decided to up the Pred as I suspected it might be a warning sign . From diagnosis in December when I started on 30mg I have probably tapered a bit too quickly .
Yes my wrists are bad at the moment. My left hand generally too. Feels like as you say, strained.
I developed wrist and elbow Pain not long after PMR dx. I was reading the internet, and this forum, (scouring the archives) every day. I Finally figured out that the way I was holding my electronic device (ipad), was aggravating both wrists and elbow. Using a pillow to hold the device, and adjusting my arm positions helped.
I had the same problem when I was knitting. Finally realized I was aggravating joints, etc., by maintaining the same repetitive motions without taking sufficient breaks.
Just food for thought...
Kind regards, J

I’m having pain on one of my palms and slight stiffness in both hands which is a mystery as I have no pain anywhere else now and on 2 mg pred so I don’t think it’s a flare. Sorry I can’t help as I’m also puzzled.
