thin eye tissue

just had my second vitrectomy in 6 months.

during the op I could hear the surgeon say the retina was so thin a few times.

I’ve just read on the eye drops that steroids cause thinning of eye tissue.

is there anything I can do/eat to strengthen the retina?

Many Thanks

Hi,

not sure there is an easy answer but maybe have a look at following links - and seek further advice from either RNIB or RetinaUK -

Thinning of the retina is associated with aging and severe short-sightedness as well as a history of retinal detachment/injury.

What they usually recommend is a healthy diet rich in vitamins and nutrients, brightly coloured fruit and veggies etc, and awareness - any symptoms, go to the optometrist and don't just dismiss them in case they are a sign of retinal damage.
