something to make you smile I hope

Yesterday I got up at my usual time and went downstairs for breakfast. Tried to reply to a message and found I could hardly see the keys on my phone. My sight was very blurry. I thought not too much of it and had my breakfast hoping it would just clear itself. I worked out that it was just my right eye affected. Then I started to think about warning signs for GCA and have been told to look out for headaches or sudden changes in sight, so thought I should get it checked out. I looked at my eye to see if I could see infection with magnifying mirror.

Started trying to phone doctors but only getting engaged signal. Whilst trying that it occurred to me tha you could in the past walk into the Eye casualty at my hospital. Checked online and found you have to phone first. I then sat with my landline trying to get through to doctors and trying to get through to eye casualty for about 15 minutes before I managed to get through to eye casualty. All this time I was thinking about what I couldn’t do if my eyesight wasn’t good enough to drive. My husband is currently in hospital, one daughter has a severe chest infection and the other working.

I eventually spoke to someone at eye casualty who took details and said I would be triaged and would get a call. I thought then I had better tidy up and go and shower and get dressed. As I sat on my bed I reached onto my bedside table and low and behold what did I find the lens from the right eye of my glasses.

Oh how relieved I was held it up to my eye and could see perfectly well!! Then frantically tried phoning eye casualty but they managed to get through to me. Apologised profusely. Was told perhaps a good idea to have eyes checked when I went to opticians to get lens put back in. Used prescription sunglasses to drive to opticians and everything sorted. Phew!!!

My grandkids thought it was hilarious. Hope it gives you a smile too.

I’m currently down to 2.5 mg of Pred and reducing very slowly.

Oops!…. Not Mrs Practical yesterday then…😳 😂🤣.

Surprising how common sense goes out the window when you have a bit of a panic.

Pleased to hear it was nothing more than an oversight (in checking spectacles) …..boom, boom, tish..

Gave me a bit of a smile, but then it would wouldn’t it!🧐

I don’t do that, but I always seem to be looking for them…did try putting them on a chain, but decided it wasn’t me! Always got tangled in necklace or earrings or scarf 🤦🏻‍♀️

😂😂😂. I once went to sleep in my contact lenses and woke up and thought my sight was restored. Your story is better though.

Oooops!!! Don't think it could happen to me - the specs would be squint because of the difference in weight!

love it. I sort of wish you’d gone to the appointment with your glasses on with one lens missing!

Very funny but I bet you are a bit red faced. I had a cataract op just after Christmas,( left eye) and my optician removed the left lens from my glasses as my vision is now good but left the right lens in until I have that eye done in a couple of weeks. Been wearing my glasses like that ever since and not one person has noticed!

I had a similar thing when I took my new phone to a phone repair shop because I could hear when people called up. He mentioned that I hadn't yet removed the film covering the screen and, hey presto, volume is perfect! I felt a bit stupid though
