Orthopedic Doctor Appointment - Yahoo!

I have just received an appointment for an Ortho Doctor!!

My GP has been really chasing for this for an age :)

I have pain in differing areas at differing times and will need to type up some notes for her.

I don't know how to present this to the Doctor but need to get something out of it!

I do go out for walks but sometimes it's a pain (literally). In all I've had five surgeries on my feet and ankles one was a heel shift with something done to my arch that was in 2005 when I was in California. It was a long time ...four hours I think. Oh and a screw put in the back. I had another op on the same foot in 20

06 and I am totally unsure what that was. All I remember is that I was in the recovery room and the nurses were all singing and dancing to "Dancing Queen" it would have been hilarious were I not in pain LOL and so on.

When I came back to England I fell over a carpet at Nuffield Health Club (yeah right eh?) and tore my Meniscus leading to another surgery.... Fun Fun

Then a couple years later had an ankle fusion on my right foot

My left one now hurts quite a bit and every now and then "crunches" when I stand on it

I also have random pains all over and it is a bloody nuisance to be honest.

> How can I get the best out of my appointment?

I really do not want this spring and summer to end up in plaster for months nor a wheelchair.

I need a holiday...... Sun please

I think you have it in this post. Just these bullet points will be enough to give the ortho-doctor a good start.

I think the most important thing about a first appointment is to assess the type of relationship you can develop with this professional. And what you have said, as bullet points will provide a good basis. It is clear where your problems are - up to them to assess how they can help

Ask him if you might have fibromyalgia.

That's what my GP thinks. After my episode of GCA a few years back it seemed to be thought of as PMR.

Is there a better one to have :)

I'm still down to 5mg which is cool. I will drop to 4.5mg next year

By the way it's a Lady Doctor and I always seem to get on better with females. Except my main GP who is the best.

Fibro won't respond to more pred - but pred only works in PMR if you are taking enough. There is a lot of overlap between PMR and fibro - especially for the patients who have myofascial pain syndrome too.
