I was started on these steroids when I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis nine years ago. After a couple of months on doses up to 30mg. My symptoms went away and I was taken off all medication, big mistake. A few months later the MG came back with a vengeance and I was hospitalised for 10 weeks. The docs started me on Azathiaprene and gradually upped the prednisalone to 80mgs and gave me several plasma exchanges. I did get temporary relief but I still could not swallow. Eventually the big chief put the steroids up to 100mgs per day and only then did I start to get a remission but it left me with tremendous pain in my lower limbs. It has gradually subsided until I can live an almost normal life. I’m convinced it’s the Azathioprene that is keeping the MG at bay with only 2mgs of Prednisalone alternate days. My only advice is to follow the doctors orders but don’t rush to come off the steroids. Best of luck
