Shingles shot with GCA & PMR?

I've never had a shingles shot but probably should get one. Does the shot cause horrible side effects for those of us with GCA and PMR?

Not necessarily- but you need the non-live one-Shingrix - plenty of info here in FAQs-

As already advised- make sure to get the Shingrix (non-live) version. They give it in 2 doses - a few weeks apart. I had mine earlier this year and felt a bit iffy for a couple of days each time but nothing serious. (currently on 2mgs pred)

Shortly after I got GCA in 2019, I got shingles all over my face, in my mouth and up my nose....so Shingrix, here I come. No side effect I can think of would be worse than those weeks!! Hope it is easy on you...💞

OMG that's horrible. My doctor said to get it when I'm on less prednisone in a couple more months, but that's what I'm trying to avoid--what you went through! Thank you for sharing your experience xx

He sounds wise...at the time I was on 80mg per day and would have caught anything~!! My doctor prescribed Lidocaine lotion and it worked! I was fortunate I had no residual pain. Be well as can be!💞
