covid injection

I received a letter for my sixth injection two weeks ago but have delayed having due to flu injection.

Has anyone else had sixth yet? It is four months since my last one. Also is it best to not have

Methotrexate afterwards.

I seem to be getting a bit flustered these days, so thanks for your help. Jen..

I had my 6th Covid jab last Friday. On the following Monday I was having a blood test and the phlebotomist asked me if I wanted my flu jab. I hadn’t wanted them both at the same time but was confident that after 3 days I wasn’t flaring so had the flu jab. I have had no problems at all.

thankyou for your quick reply. I will try to get one locally as the only one offered is four miles away which means a taxi. Glad yours was ok.

Jane - did they ask any additional questions this time eg Any History of Myocarditis? A family member was asked this week?

Thank you for your reply. I hadn’t realised there was a sixth jab, lot going on with family at the moment.

I have always missed one methotrexate so will try and sort it out next week. Take care Jen.

Does get a bit confusing -I’ve had 5- and not immune suppressed, but 75!

Add in flu & shingles vaccine and it seems to be never ending -but if it keeps us well so be it …

You are so right. I am going to ask for shingles jab when this covid is sorted. Been on methotrexate a long time so I try not to have any too close. I think I need the non live shingles vaccine.

Has anyone invented a “get up and go “ jab ? 😳😳😳

I wish!!!!!

I think if we could all meet up once a month and talk and laugh and cry and talk and laugh, oh and definitely a cuppa and cake, it would help everyone.

Of course we would have to teleport you over for the day.🤣. Jen

No, no. Much better for us to be teleported to N Italy. Real medical services, gelato and prosecco plus wonderful tomatoes! What's not to like?

Beam me up now………

yes, you do need non-live vaccine -Shingrix..

GUAG -would be sold out in minutes….😊

Thanks, I have made a note of Shingrix.

I hope You would be in charge of the meet up I have suggested to pmrpro. I think your experience of army life and Viking warrior skills would be needed to quell the masses……….

I have had six. My last about a week ago. I am only on Pred. Someone will be along to help you 😊

I have tried to book one but the nearest at the moment is five miles away so will have to get a taxi if I can’t get one nearer. I asked at local chemists but they are not getting many.

Did a stupid thing last night. Took two paracetamols as usual when I went to bed, then an hour later legs were aching so I thought oh I haven’t had my para cetamols!!! So, took two. The moment I swolowed them I realised what I had done…… Taken four within an hour.

I rang 111 and they put my mind at rest. Lesson learnt 😳

I won’t have next methotrexate and hopefully sort it all next week. Thanks Jen

My rheumatology nurse said to get the covid booster, then skip my methotrexate shots for 2 weeks, then get the flu shot. There are recent studies in both the US and UK that show suspending the MTX for 2 weeks really boosts the antibodies from the covid shot.

5lupins in reply to prairiesong

This is what I will do after jab. Thanks.

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply to prairiesong

The same applies for the flu shot though - are you going to have one MTX jab in the middle immediately before the flu jab?

prairiesong profile image
prairiesong in reply to PMRpro

No, I think I'll skip it. I guess it is okay with MTX.

I had my 3rd booster (Pfizer) on Tuesday. On Wednesday afternoon I developed a rash on my back that was in a straight line & was itching. By Thursday morning,it was worse. Fortunately I was able to get an appointment with my primary physician, who diagnosed me with shingles. So I am highly suspicious that with my suppressed immunity that the Covid vaccine triggered the shingles. I have not been able to have the shingles shots, so if you are in a similar situation, you may want to get the Shingrix first. Fortunately my shingles are currently mild to medium and I am taking Valtrex to control the symptoms.

Not nice….I think I must get covid jab now and then shingles in a few weeks time if I can organise it with Docs.

Hope you continue to improve. Jen
