Reiki, has anyone found it helpful ?

Hi

A friend has suggested I try Reiki to help with pain. Just wondering whether anyone has tried it and whether it’s helped.

Thanks

If you have pain from PMR it must be treated with pred to prevent the inflammation. Massage done without understanding PMR can make PMR worse...it certainly won't have any long term benefits.Reiki might make you feel temporally relaxed but it is NOT a treatment for anything.

I am a Reiki practitioner although haven't done it for a while due to being ill myself.

Reiki may help with symptoms and relaxation but you will still need prednisolone to treat the underlying inflammation.

I personally find Reiki very relaxing but only a short term effect on pain. It's a nice treat to have a Reiki treatment so it's entirely up to you. Enjoy x

Thank you both for your answers, I am taking Prednisilone and just looking for other possible help.

I found Reiki helped me to have a good night’s sleep when I was feeling very anxious, my daughter is a reiki practitioner and would ‘send’ me Reiki when I was in bed. Sounds hard to believe, but it definitely worked. I have no pain with PMR anymore after 4 yrs, just trying to get off the steroids, have never tried it for anything other than an aid to sleep. Reckon prednisalone only thing to help with actual PMR.
