Sick of this

hi all

I am down to 1mg from 15 in October after a second got round with PMR. Having a terrible time with exhaustion and weak legs etc. But the most frustrating thing is my blood pressure is up. It was 174/80 at rheumatologist appt. (white coat syndrome contributes). Does anyone else get high blood pressure tapering? I am so sick of feeling sick.

As have I.

Your BP may be up because you are flaring - the inflammation can narrow the blood vessels and that puts the BP up. Unlikely to be adrenal insufficiency as that usually causes low BP.

My blood pressure can be all over the place and when I'm tested at the GP's it's been as high as 180 which she's accepted as white coat syndrome. When I'm at home, even after a bout of exercise, it can be as low as 118/67, 117/71, 118/64, 119/67 (taken over 2 days), then on other days it can be up to143/81, 140/76, 142/80 (taken over another 2 days). If I'd taken the GP and cardiologists advice I would be on BP tablets now. About 12 years ago my reading at the GP's was so high that I was immediately put onto 5% amlopodine. It then became so low it was worrying, so I was weaned off them.

Do you take your BP at home? Mine is always up under clinical conditions, but relatively good at home.
