What dose of Tramadol do you take? (Anyone). Up till now I have been using hard capsule Talvisolen but it isn’t offered over here any more, so my doctor changed me to Tramadol. Unfortunately I can’t get in touch with my doctor atm (they’re too busy to answer the phone)!!

I take 20 drops of the liquid dispensed here - 50mg. I can take it up to 3x daily but usually take it once together with paracetamol which seems to work OK for most of the day depending on how much I am walking. The rheumy today suggested I try taking it regularly to see if it improves things.

Thanks Pro. I’ve just looked at the packet and it is 50mg too. It didn’t seem to be working too well and I was afraid to take paracetemol as well. Will do so now though occasionally. Thank you!

What is the dose they said? It is usually up to 100mg as a dose.

50mg. Cocodamol seemed to work better so I will try for a while and ask my doctor about it (if I can get through)! Are things getting worse in your area too. We used to get excellent service but it’s going down rapidly.

Depends - I've seen a rheumy 4 times since New Year! Saw himself 2 months ago, a spare one this morning and have another appointment in October. Medicine is a bit of a disaster area - 2 superb ones are leaving to set up a 3-man private practice in the village where my GP is.

Cocodamol makes me very constipated and I already have lower abdominal pain and painful rectal spasms. I get away with Tramadol and Paracetamol.

I suffer the same Jane. The constipation is awful. I’m hoping it will be better with Tramadol.

Hi Constance13,

I take 2 or 3 Tramadol 50mg daily, together with Paracetamol as the Tramadol helps but gives me a headache. I can’t tolerate Morphine, I’ve a couple of other conditions as well as PMR and GCA so Paracetamol alone isn’t effective. Hope you find something that works for you. Best wishes.

Thanks Margaret. I was afraid of taking Paracetemol AND Tramadol together. Now I know it is taken by others I have relaxed a little. I have no difficulties with either of them.

I was prescribed 4 doses of two tablets. I tend to take one or two doses on bad days. Any more and I itch like crazy. The do seem to help though. They take the edge off somehow.
