I know some of you are on Tramadol but can't find the posts.
I've now been given this for the first time, but I remember someone saying "it made me go quite crazy", someone else said "I got headaches and the shivers". Don't fancy either of those!!
Anyone had only few side effects?

I find the occasional dose very helpful. I haven’t noticed any particular side effects, unlike Paracetamol and Codeine which I can’t take. I am susceptible to side effects with most drugs and I felt surprised at those posts. It is a synthetic opiate apparently. I found it particularly helpful with severe arthritic pain.
Tramadol is great for pain. In my case it makes me constipated, but I have had no other problems. I believe some people take it as a recreational drug!
I was given it many years ago after an op............never again 1 tablet and I was out of it for nearly 24 hours. There must be other pain killers you can try.
If you do decide to take it.............hope it works OK for you. xx
Thanks "mate". I've taken Cocodamol for years (2-3 during the night - 2 during the day). My nights are very painful and I am just trying to find something which will give me some (consecutive hours) sleep. Can't say I don't get all the sleep I need but, in general, a few hours pain free is what I am aiming for.
I think I'll try one Tramadol during the day and see how I get on. Daren't try it in the night until I know how I react to it.
No side effects at all. Occasionally I forget to take a dose & the pain I’m in just an hour later reminds me why I take it! I have the time release version...it’s more expensive & I was asked to try a cheaper one. I trialled the cheaper one for a month, but it wasn’t as good. The trade name if the one I take is Zydol. I wasn’t put on it for Polymyalgia & I don’t think it works when my shoulders are bad (my key symptom in a flare up), hope this helps!
Tramadol got me so high my husband said he used to come home and scrape me off the ceiling😂
I also felt queasy and out of it all the time. It didn't really help my pain either. Had to stop it as I couldn't function. I know for some people it really helps but I wasn't one of them!
Ooooer! Not sure I could deal with that (in fact - I know I couldn't)! However, I will try and pluck up the courage to try one. Maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones it doesn't seem to affect.
I have taken Tramadol for many years for Psoriatic Arthritis , I have never had an issue...in fact it was the diagnostic key to determine I had PMR..because for the first time in my life it did not relieve the intense pain in my shoulders, neck and hips.
After appropriate labs ..the PMR diagnosis... treated with Prednisone and within a few days was completely pain free.
As far as fear of addiction I believe if you honestly require it for moderate to severe pain and the doseage remains consistent...then you will have no problems... I have been on the same doseage for years... with relief and no side effects . When I was working in hospital we would use it as a drug of choice for patients with sensitivities to Tylenol 3's or Oxycodone...take care Knitwit2020
