Did you mean to post on PMRGCAuk? This isn't really our field of expertise! However - according to the Mayo, the answer to your question is no

mayoclinic.org/diseases-con....

"Factor V Leiden (FAK-tur five LIDE-n) is a mutation of one of the clotting factors in the blood. This mutation can increase your chance of developing abnormal blood clots, most commonly in your legs or lungs.

Most people with factor V Leiden never develop abnormal clots"

No. It only indicates you have a much higher potential. I have probably got it but can't be bothered to test since I have had full blown PE and one in the leg. Also looks like I might have had a very mild stroke. On blood thinners now and probably forever.

Not necessarily. I discovered I had F5 Leiden last year when I had a fall and due to too much resting ended up with thrombosis length of the whole leg.

My 2nd thrombosis so was tested for F5 Leiden. Now have to take Eliquis (anticoagulant) for the rest of my life.

Have been told to inform other close family members as it is hereditary, presume I inherited from my father who also had several thrombosis over his lifetime but not tested.

Didn't break my leg only very stiff and painful. Never went to see Dr. when I realised the pain was getting worse at my groin.

I was 68 at the time.

Hi there . I have factor V Leiden . Found out when I was in my 30s . My daughter also has this too .

I was out in aspirin as precautionary .

Now on blood thinners as last year I had blood clot ( mainly due to inactivity) after 5 fractured vertebrae and discovering I had severe osteoporosis.

Not sure re factor 5 Leiden if it’s the same or not .

So I think if I hadn’t have been so incapacitated I probably wouldn’t have got a blood clot .
