Now call that Community Matron and tell him/her his time of arrival, you need to warn asap.

If they Matron cannot make by about 3.30pm..........make the call to the GP. Do not just wait till tomorrow. I don't want you worried and up all night.

I've called. She seems to think they would not have let him travel if they were not happy on the Ward. She said let him settle in and she will come on Monday. If I'm not happy I'll ring again tomorrow.

Make sure, he might have been OK on the ward, but he has undergone a journey wth medics with him. He will be tired and happy to be home as well.

Just keep a close eye out.

The one thing I learnt when oh kept coming home last year was to use my own feelings of him to judge when help was needed.

One time I sent for doc, who is lovely, she said he was ok!! Two hours later I rang ward sister, she said ring doc again maybe uti !!. Doc asked for sample which receptionist brought bottle to house...... No uti. So I took him straight to hospital and he was starting with sepsis again....... Blood pressure dropped and temp rising. Many anti biotics, oxygen etc., I had seen how quickly it happens and he was so frail.

Now although not well enough for chemo yet he is very well and back to normal weight. How lucky I am. ☺️

The next few days will be hard but at least you will be doing something for him. My very warm wishes to you. J.

I have to say - in the UK I wouldn't waste time asking for a GP to call. It would be 999 - paramedics are usually much better at identifying the poorly patient.

When doc called earlier in day she checked everything and everything was fine, but he then got worse very quickly so like you say I did what is best here in uk. Good care from everyone πŸ€—

I think I am in a similar position to you with regard to OH. It was only after I read the report yesterday that I could see he had had sepsis again. No wonder he felt like he did. I had only spoken to the Dr on the ward just before we came back. All she talked about was three bugs - no mention of sepsis. Why could she not have told me then?

I think what starts as a severe infection changes when everything goes downhill. Blood pressure, oxygen levels, heart rate etc it happens very quick sometimes. We do need to be told more as it is not always possible or easy to ask staff. Glad oh is home a where he can have food he is used to and his own bed. Take care J

I agree. it's good to have him within reach rather than so far away.

So sorry I'm late to the parade , it was my daughter's birthday yesterday.

Just wanted to say Well Done and give you a big electric hug and oat on the back for managing to sort this out.

There'll still be work to be done , but at least you can breath a sigh of relief now that the OH will be home , and not AWOL

Love to you both and keep us posted xx

Is the oat on the back to protect from the electric hug? 😁😁

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Pat on the back !

Although I've been known to find the odd oat stuck to my back when they have escaped from a heat pad πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Don't!

You are not too far off the mark as that was close to what happened when I fell asleep in the bath and the oat bag over the tap burst!

Ever had a bath in something that looked like Workhouse Gruel?!!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
