Hi all, as I'm now on a very low dose of Pred (0.5mg)I have decided that this is probably a good a time as any to stop taking Omeprazole, I've never had a problem with it, but no point keeping it on if its not needed. (not spoken to doc yet mind, but hey ho, can always plead insanity!!) I have now completed one week with missing one day, one week of missing two days, one week of missing three days, one week of missing four days and one week of missing five days all with no obvious reaction. Do you think that is enough or should I carry on with wekks six and seven? Peter

Omeprazole Tapering Off
I'd have thought that was fair evidence you are fine without!!! There is always gaviscon!!
Looking very good so far! You could always have a bottle of jollop from the chemist just in case there are some rumblings.
Sounds good to me. That’s more or less what I did, though it did take me three does at zero to get right off pred, so it was third time lucky.
At the end of the day, you just have to try it and see.
Good luck.
Thanks all, that is what I was thinking. I'll get a bottle of Gaviscon for just in case.
Haha!... perhaps with a bottle of sauvignon blanc, for eradicating it's revolting taste!! 😄
That would account for my son’s penchant for wine — not white though, that’s what gives him the indigestion in the first place..😳..
Had my retirement goodbyes from the Music Service today so might, just possibly, be celebrating with some red tonight. Guess that will keep the white in the fridge if the Gaviscon is needed!!!
Sounds good, although a whole bottle might, only might, make the 02:00 0.5mg and the around 04:00 walk "interesting"
I am making my second attempt to get off Omeprazole. I have found the 10mg capsules useful.
But yes, in the past I have found that missing every other day was preparation enough to give up the 20mg, provided there is some Gaviscon handy.
although not on pred snd only on omeprazole for 6 months at 20 x 2 daily I tapered in a similar way without issues and now GP says take them as and when required which is hardly ever. I am suffering gastric issues but the headache from taking the PPI was debilitating so given I’m not taking pred I’m trying to live with it.
