I’ve had pmr since 2014; maintaining with 5 mg prednisone. I usually have one or two flares each year. Since starting Jardiance I have had 3 flares in 2 months. Anyone have similar experience?

Jardiance causing flares?
Hi ristonejr. I've never heard of jardiance so looked on drug checker. It would appear that there is a moderate contraindication if taken with Pred. It seems something of a coincidence that you've had more frequent flares since taking it so best to check with your doctor.Take a look here:
For anyone not familiar with that brand name:
The substance name is Empagliflozin and other brand names are Synjardy (empagliflozin with metformin) and Glyxambi (empagliflozin with linagliptin).
Are you on any other medication that might interact with the Jardiance?
Who prescribed the jardiance and why?
Just saw Rheumy. Apparently Jardiance (taken for control of blood glucose) can cause joint pain. So current theory is that it is the cause of my flares. Going to ride it out to see if side effects lessen with time. Seeing PCP in a month and will discuss alternative meds.
My husband was put on jardiance but had side effects and was taken off it and put on another similar drug which has suited him better
Omg. I was tried on empaglaflozin for diabetes a few years ago. I persevered for a few days but I weed like a shire horse every 90 minutes day and night and could feel my kidneys throbbing!! Evil. Don’t put up with something if it makes you worse.
