P M R. AND COVID
Hi Harry. I currently have Covid, and my PMR aches and pains have diminished - like they do every time I have a vaccination! I figured that when my immune system is fighting the virus it stops attacking my body. 🤷🏻♀️ But I still have the deathly fatigue. I hope you feel better very soon.
Interesting!my pains have gone too🤷🏽♀️
Unfortunately I spoke to soon - mine are not so good now this morning - but I assume that means I am getting over my Covid. 🤷🏻♀️
I currently have Covid so will be interested in the replies to your post. Was you given the antiviral drug? if so, which one?
Yes. I am half way through a 5 day course of Paxlovid. Hoping it does the trick. I have a bit of a cough and tired but so far so good. My anxiety rears it’s head from time to time tho….. Hope you are coping ?
Hi, I currently have Covid. Just runny nose really and tired. Hasn't affected my PMR (am on 3mg). Reported my positive test and a nurse telephoned me to say a doctor had reviewed my notes and I did not qualify for either of the antivirals as I wasn't immunosuppressed enough which is fine. Incidentally I went to the chemist with a QR code to get the lateral flow tests and she said - how many do you want as I have 300 to get rid of before 1st April and can't sell them as they are not for resale. Begs the question of what are they going to do with all the "free" tests that will be left over !!!
Here thay have the Council giving them out in towns and supermarkets to get rid of them
I got some through the post this morning, I hadn't even ordered them. I did a test because I've seen someone who has now has covid...today I feel terrible, but will keep testing...fingers crossed....
Hi longtimer That’s interesting, I got a box thru the post this morning that I hadn’t ordered. 🤷🏼♀️
Think maybe because of having previously ordering them, they are getting rid of them on us.....I'm not complaining!
According to one media source, NHS staff will have to fund their own. So why are they not being given the left-overs?
Nothing surprises anymore, disgusting. They don't want it spread especially in hospitals so what's the sense in that....
I'm amazed neither of my 2 have caught it yet - the ED one meets it over and over again.
Fingers crossed....
I went to my son's last Thursday....19 year old grandson on his hols....didn't sit too close, french doors open, lots of fresh air. He has now got covid....my son is worried I may have it because of feeling so ill today....but have tested negative, and will continue to do......what else can we do.....
Now read that NHS staff won't have to pay for lateral flow tests, but no free parking from Friday....in one hand and out of the other!....
Hi I have COVID at the moment. No extra PMR symptoms at the moment. I have no energy and very congested and not sleeping well.
Covid did not affect my PMR but I am at the end of the journey. I hope you feel better soon.
I am on Day 5 ( possibly Day 6) of Covid and so far have had a “bad cold”. Runny nose, peffy cough, slightly wheezy but nothing too frightening. I sent off my PCR home test which confirmed my positive status and then received a flurry of emails and texts stating that the local NHS would be in contact within the next 24 hours to discuss meds as I was in the vulnerable category. That was 2 days ago - nothing! 🙄 I’m improving every day so the extra meds probably aren’t necessary anyway. Thank goodness I had all of my jabs. I was bound to have caught it at some point as I have teenage kids and lecture at Uni. My PMR has behaved itself so far too, thankfully. I hope you all continue to recover well. Take care.
I also have had a week of covid. Symptoms were runny nose and sore throat and both have mostly resolved over the week. Free tomorrow. Fortunate to have a whole house and yard to isolate in and beautiful weather to make the most of. My PMR journey is at it's end and I have decided to skip the 10mg of MTX this week. Had daily phone calls from local health group to check on me and provided with an oximeter and thermometer to check results. Think they were surprised when I said I had less pain than I'd had with PMR and maybe the extra water I was drinking helped flush my system. Best wishes to all of those who have had covid.
I have covid,my pmr seems to be fine. The usual thigh pain isn't there.!!I have been quite rough with covid unlike my husband who had it milder.I got all the symptoms listed even night sweats. He mainly had a cough.I'm on day 8 and still 🥴🤒
Hi Harry, I am finally negative after 13 days of Covid with mild symptoms only. PMR wise my legs have been very heavy and walking any distance has been a bit of a struggle, I try to walk 2 - 3 miles daily with my dogs but am having to give up after 1 mile. I can't do much and am snoozing in the day. Fatigue is quite common after covid, and could be more so for those with PMR. Therefore I am taking things easier for a few weeks, and would recommend the same to others. I hope you make a full recovery very quickly.
I meant to say - I have got the antivirals (Molnupiravir) which from what I read in the small print stop me getting any worse rather than making me better. Either way I was pleased to be given them - and very pleased to have had the vaccinations. I am on Day 7 of Covid symptoms and still have a headache, cough and snotty nose - but I do feel a little better this morning so onwards and upwards! Meanwhile my husband tested positive yesterday and feels awful, poor chap.
Hi Harrywogan
I am two months post covid. My pmr wasn’t affected. Mostly brain, energy and lungs were affected. Bit by bit it’s improving. I don’t suffer with my lungs ordinarily so it was a bit of a shock when I escaped (day 11) and struggled to walk into town, less than 10 mins away. I naturally walk fast, so I have had to slow down and am now building up gradually to expand my lungs and get back to my 1 1/2 mile daily cardiovascular walk.
I do fall asleep a lot when I sit down. Good days and not so good days but it’s all improving. Funnily enough my sleeping has improved since covid 🤔😊 All the best. 🤗
I am on day 12 with Covid and nearly back to (PMR) normal. Just a bit of a runny nose and a few coughs. My PMR has been behaving which is unusual- I haven't increased my pred dose either. 🤞. The great thing is that I have been sleeping better than I was pre-covid. This might just be that I am still tired from the Covid but I am hoping my new sleeping habits remain!
Hi. I tested positive yesterday. Only as I felt a bit sniffly and sore throat. Partner has had it from last week thought I’d got away with it. I feel ok though. Sent off my PCR test but on calling 111 they said I’m not poorly enough for anti virals and as on 17.5mg steroids probably have an edge on getting really ill. In contract my partner has felt terrible. I’m hindsight I’ve probably had a few days but only have a vague headache and sore throat and stuffy nose. But far worse with a cold a few weeks ago. Laid up with a broken ankle so can’t do anything but rest even if I wanted to. As for the PMR it seems my immune system is dealing with my broken ankle and has temporarily stopped attacking itself. A strange but common phenomenon apparently when something more pressing to deal with. It was under control finally though. Good job or the crutches would be out the window! I hope you feel better soon.
