Would mixing a 2.5 mg plain pred tablet and a 1 mg plain gelatine pred capsule have the same effect as taking 3.5 mg in tablet form only? I’m wondering about peaking simultaneously and half life🤔

Not sure what you mean by "1 mg plain gelatine pred capsule"? Can you explain?

Sorry for not being clearer. By plain I meant non enteric coated and the gelatine described on the pack translates to “hard” gelatine I think.

Is it entocort? Budesonide?

No neither of those. The ingredients state 1 hard capsule contains: 1 mg prednisolone, lactose monohydrate, corn starch, potato starch, povidone, colloidal silicone dioxide and magnesium stearate.

Prednisolone tablets are usually absorded quickly - I wouldn't think there was a significant difference between plain tablets and those in gel casings, if anything the gel casing might be quicker but it is likely to be the difference between 1/2 hour and 1 hour.

It certainly shouldn't affect the half life and anyway, the antiinflammatory effect is much longer.

People mix the enteric coated and plain pred without problems even taking them at the same time and there there can be 3 or 4 hours difference in absorption - just extends the suration of the effect a bit.
