Could it be oral thrush (candida)? Very common when on pred.
Dry mouth can also cause similar symptoms - try xylimelts for relief of that.
My sense of taste changed drastically when I started pred - everything tastes sweeter, and otherwise doesn't taste much at all. Sense of smell also altered. And most of mouth tingling, particularly after food and talking - but no ulceration etc, and test for thrush was negative. The dentist said that pred causes dry mouth, and should drink lots, but no-one has been able to explain the tingling. It seemed to get worse with MTX. Sorry, this is more sympathising than helpful!
I started Prednisolone about 4.5years ago with Methotrexate added about 2.5years ago and, I think, developed a weird ghost taste about 2 years ago. Mine is approx sugared cheese???? I can no longer taste anything sweet beyond that. Salt, sour, umami still work. Mouth and saliva seems to be same as ever. Sense of smell seems OK. Stopped smoking completely around 18 months ago. Now also suffering from endless rhinitis and weeping eyes...which may be a side effect of....? Possibly just getting old and falling into disrepair.
When I started on 60 mg pred everything tasted awful. I lost 20 lbs. I literally had to force myself to eat
