Hi and welcome……

Have a look around the site and especially the FAQs if you need to know anything, although if you’ve got through so far you may not need advice -

Hi Kathleen. I've had PMR for3yrs now and had only heard of it because my dad had it. Even so, I never paid his condition a lot of attention so when I was diagnosed with it, it was still quite bewildering and overwhelming for me. Thankfully, I discovered this forum and so many things that had confused and worried me became much clearer and less frightening with the advice, support and help I found here.

Always feel free to ask anything you need to and remember there's lots of reliable information and help in FAQ's.

Well done on your tapering.

This might help - even though you probably know lots of it already -

Haha! Don't worry...most of us have been there! Tapering from 10mg down can be a little bit tricky for some people and needs a much slower and steadier approach than when tapering from higher doses. I got caught out at 2.5mg when I had a flare and had to increase again. It is possible to manage the steroids but you can't rush the tapers. There's lots of advice and help with this in FAQ's.

‘’Fraid the illness decides when it gets better, not you…much as you wish you were in control of that decision. You can only manage it with the right level of Pred….at the right time!

Your disease activity is probably quite low but you reduced at a speed that meant you didn't see it creeping up on you until you were below your aim: the lowest effective dose. And I doubt any doctor warned you that you weren't heading relentlessly to zero - because they mostly think it is that simple. Some of them think they are in charge of the taper but it is always PMR that is in charge and as yet no-one has found the cure to make sure it isn't. If only!
