It’s a few years since I took Gabapentin. I was also tried Pregablin. They are significant drugs and although I didn’t suffer side effects, I felt that neither made enough difference to justify taking them. Nerve pain is horrible. I hope you get some relief very soon.

Gabapentin Experience
Should this have been a reply to another post? If so, hope whoever it was meant for sees it.
Hello I have been prescribed Gabapentin for other illnesses but not for PMR. This is not a standard drug for PMR as PMR is not nerve pain but pain caused by inflammation so requires a drug that will reduce the inflammation and therefore reduce the pain.
My GP prescribed increasing doses of gabapentin and pregabalin for months before blood tests confirmed PMR, because they simply didn’t work. They have some nasty side effects and dependency problems.
I have been on Prednisolone for PMR for several years. The Gabapentin and then Pregablin were prescribed for a trapped nerve in my knee. Neither were effective and fortunately I didn’t suffer any side effects but I know that’s not everyone’s experience and caution is needed especially when reducing the dose.
I was prescribed it for fibromyalgia, but the side effects were too bad. I stuck it for 3 weeks, but then stopped it. Not everybody is the same!!
Hi pixi What kind of side affects my daughter in law has tried and she was so dizzy and didn’t seem to touch pain
Hi…my main issues were lack of balance & feeling like I was drunk…but with no alcohol!! Sadly, it didn’t wear off, nor get any easier! There are two similar drugs, Pregabalin & Gabapentin. It’s worth trying the other one if you get side effects as, for some unknown reason, some people get side effects from one & not the other. I think it’s responsible for some of my weight gain, too, but cannot prove that! As my rheumy said about steroids…it’s not the pills that put on the weight, it’s us eating more. Hm…!
