Hi there - there are not so many Members around with it being Christmas - l will attach you a link to FAQ’s so you can have a browse. It’s only day 5 - so not totally unexpected, it can take a few days to start to mop up the the inflammation & some people do need more (20mg) so see how it goes.

Good Luck & ask any questions you may have.

Kind Regards

MrsN

Hi Fiddlemum and welcome 😊

It sounds like prednisolone is working well for you so far, so that’s great! There’s a lot of variation in people's pathways through this illness so do browse away through FAQs and related posts, and feel free to ask any questions you may have. No question is too small! As MrsNails says, there’ll be a lot more people around when the Christmas hols are done.

All the best, Nextoneplease x

Morning Fiddlemum and welcome to the forum. Glad to see that your present dosage seems to be having a positive effect at the moment FAQ's etc already mentioned so I'll just add, that although you may be starting to feel better please don't get carried away with physical activity, make sure you allow for needing plenty of rest and sleep.

Hi and welcome, like others have had no notifications from HU so am catching up.

Won’t add to others suggestions about looking at FAQs , except to say maybe have a look through this post -for general info, and then if you can’t find answers to specific questions, please ask.

Hopefully, the notification system will be working correctly asap-

Hi, fiddlemum! Sounds like it's going well. However, at the beginning we are all led to believe that if we take the medicine as instructed, it'll all be over in a few months. And so it might! But be prepared for having occasionally to raise the dose, because that is normal too. And then you won't be too disappointed!🙂

Hi Fiddlemum, welcome. You have had excellent advice from all the best and most frequent contributors to this forum and you will come to look at them as friends and supporters on what could be a fairly long journey with PMR. There is a lot to learn and understand about this unwelcome bedfellow and it seems everybody’s journey is slightly different, but mine certainly began exactly as you describe 5 years ago and is still demanding my attention.

It takes a bit of getting used to but you have started in the right direction by writing on this forum and taking the prednisolone, now I’m afraid it may still be a bumpy ride but you are in good company here.

Hi Fiddlemum, welcome to the club nobody wants to join !!You're in the right place to receive a wealth of knowledge and support. I'm 18 months into my journey and don't know how I would've coped without this forum. Being able to turn over in bed is a great start.

Hope you start to feel more benefit from Pred over the next few days.

Hi Fiddlemum! Sorry you are where you are - that is with PMR! But welcome to the forum. My usual comment to all newbies is: buy Kate Gilbert's book on PMR GCA and, once read, let all the members of your family read it so they know what the disease is all about. Secondly browse the PMR GCA charity site and see if you can find a local forum - that are currently run by zoom - on which you'll be able to ask questions directly to others who have the same disease. Also the charity often have a quarterly talk by a PMR GCA medic where you can ask questions. Their talks are usually very enlightening to newbies.

I wish you luck and a speedy recovery...although I've yet to hear of one! Be kind to yourself. Best x

My onset and symptoms were exactly the same as yours when I was diagnosed in August 2021. Even sitting on the loo was a challenge! 15 mg of pred acted like a miracle. Now tapering s l o w l y and all going really well so far. My GP seems to be leaving me alone, so I use this forum for extremely useful information.

Good luck in your journey.
