PHLEM

Has the GP not investigated further? It could be a viral cause which antibiotics don't work for and pred won't help you fight it off. It could even be a fungal infection.
Any cough that has gone on more than about a month should be investigated - and so should any producing green plegm as that is a sign of infection.
Thanks Ambassador. No cough was wondering if it could synus problem, have bad habit of picking my nose yuck I no bad habit x
Hi Harrywogan
I do think this warrants a GP appointment or a 111 call if you can’t get through to a GP. I agree with PMRpro….Whatever the cause, green phlegm should be investigated.
Hope all goes well and you get sorted out soon x
Phlegm builds in the nasal passage. I was told it is composed largely of dead white blood cells that have fought an infection and gets deposited there for exit from system (no idea if that's accurate) either way there it sits. The Early on having these conditions I have found that mucus built and ran down from my nasal passage via the larynx and into the lungs. In the morning I had to clear this and usually just injested it. The mechanism to get mucus from lungs is mainly coughing, but also the small "hairs" lining the tubes from lungs I was told and can carry it out if they haven't been killed off through smoking and other causes. Don't really know but without coughing I can clear some . You need to cough however to bring it up from deep in the lungs. It wasn't green though as that would have worried and warned me of a serious infection. There is then the infection of the lung producing its own unpleasant coloured phlegm/mucus. Your post doesn't indicate how it arrived and whether your GP has a clue. 6 months is a long time to have this without any improvement. Sorry for your plight.
Saline inhalent in a nebulizer. Works great. The Dr can prescribe Pulmoclear 7% is the max dosage ask the medics.
