Amazing GP tele catch up.

GP phoned this am. I have new diagnosis…. Not PMR but Arthritis. All done by phone.

One good thing she is chasing the Dexa Scan so I can be put in AA. I have more confidence than that and will wait and see.

Hmm, sounds like a GP telephone consultation I had in February…. by a doctor who had only seen me briefly 3 years ago. Another opinion would be useful I think, though I see you have had investigations by consultant. PMR can certainly last longer than a couple of years. Hope things work out, it’s extremely frustrating trying to get sorted. Sorry no advice. All the best to you Suffererc

That I had been on Pred for nearly 4 years. So more likely to be Arthritis and not PMR. Also saying I need to take AA to protect my bones even if they are healthy. You can tell an awful lot by having a phone call 😂😂😂😂🤣

As I said in another post, his crystal ball is obviously better than PMRpro , MrsNails & mine…..🤦🏻‍♀️..need to get ours in for a MOT!

I find it so frustrating that we have to have all these battles with so many GP's and rheumatologists and particularly that we really have to know more than they do in order to effectively manage our conditions as successfully as possible. That in itself is a huge challenge we could well do without on top of all the other challenges!

I had osteoarthritis (confirmed by x-rays) many years before my PMR diagnosis, and I still, of course, have it. I assume he meant OA not RA (rheumatoid)? So far on pred, albeit usually at a very low dose, for over 5 years. Also there's nothing, as others also say, to stop you from having both conditions. Good to get the DXA scan though.

Having had OA for at least 30 years, probably nearer 40, it certainly hasn't stopped me having PMR at the same time - always assuming both diagnoses are correct of course!!

For me, it’s the same routine. I talk with my rheumatologist every 6 weeks via phone. She asks the same questions and send me pred via mail. She lets me set my own pace. Currently on 4mg. Also, I have OA.

What sort of arthritis? And on what grounds?

Exactly crystal ball. She can’t believe I had a flare, they just don’t happen🤣😂🤣😂. She didn’t say what type of arthritis or offer any treatment just kept banging on about AA and how I would benefit from it.

Like my MIL's doctor who couldn't diagnose thrush in a baby's nappyrash and told me I couldn't have it on my lips (you can) - and he saw it in real life!!!!

The good news is that, following GP's instructions, I went to the surgery for necessary equipment, returned home, did the tests, returned them back to the surgery and then rang for results 5 days later. That's when message came through that I didn't have thrush. Nothing else - just that message. But if this continues, I will soon be a GP. Who knew it was so easy??

I have been instructed to take my bp for a week, then drop note into reception. Then what???? Coming up very low for some reason so hope Chrystal. Balls working for them 😂🤣😂🤣😂. Soon won’t need GPs

We were told to do that for my hubby who was feeling dizzy all the time. 3 times we did it and heard nothing. After the 3rd time I phoned the surgery and was told his readings were normal, they weren't, they were low. I asked to speak to a Dr, none available. After a few words they found a nurse practitioner who was brilliant. His readings were low, he was to stop his BP tablets straight away, she had spoken to a Dr and phoned me back. Arranged for all his other meds to be reviewed, and a nurse to come out and check his BP next week.
