Such a surprise to have suddenly started shivering last Wednesday. Yes a temperature was there and mild cough starting, with runny nose and sneezing a lot. My taste is fine.
Daughter made me get a CPR test and sure enough, it was positive in spite of double vaccinations in April and May. Ten days instant total isolation of course - I have seven days to go. But so far - I am on 10mg Prednisolone a day, so good.
Today I feel much better. Track and Trace tell me that now I have had positive cpr test, I am protected for 90 days and must not have any more tests done because even if they are negative, I would have to go through another ten days of isolation! But they say I shouldn’t get it again because of the antibodies in me.
Feel fine now, maddening to have caught it but it is rife in Cheltenham where I live. Will let you know if anything else happens. Thank goodness fir the vaccinations!

Hello, glad you’re not to bad. Rest up. On various Covid chat groups it does seem some people test positive for ages without active disease and are deemed non contagious. Keep an open mind, this beastie does go through different stages in my experience though that was the variant back in the early days.
Hello to Cheltenham, it was my local metropolis growing up in Naunton in the 60/70’s. I remember in primary school our big annual school trip was to Pitville Park 😆. Wouldn’t quite cut the mustard these days.
Hi, Poor you, I hope you get better soon. It’s such a worry that the virus is still at large, just goes to show we all still need to take precautions. It’s so difficult though, I’ve just spent a few days at my daughters and the grandchildren, they are really good with masks, they don’t have to use them but put them on anytime we go to a shop or other similar places.
Just wish we could all go back to normal but I don’t think that’s ever going to happen, it’s just adjusting to this new life, 🙁.
Take care, get better soon, sending you a big hug 😍💐
Sorry I must have missed a thread, had you been fully vaccinated, if so which one? Glad to hear you are feeling better.
Yes, in April snd May with Astra Zeneca. I thought I was safe. My poor husband is in a care home and I’m terrified I’ve given it to him. These vaccinations aren’t fallible. But they’ve obviously reduced the symptoms . However living on one’s own for ten solid days is no joke.
Take care and keep your fingers crossed. If only they could have invented a vaccine that worked. We have no proof that you would have been worse without it. But it's certainly good you have recovered.
No they are not foolproof, and that's well documented, whatever one you have...but they do significantly reduce the effects of Covid....so no-one should think they are safe...safer maybe, but not 100% safe!
Get well soon. I am thinking of getting one. I have felt really viral for 3 weeks, with a wheezy chest, violent sneezing , runny nose, breathlessness and food tasting strange.
Well Jane, you sound as if you may have it too. I started with a temperature but your symptoms + diorregh are Covid like. Please see my replies below to other kind people.
I hope you make a quick recovery Silver-Babe rotten luck to have picked up the virus but hopefully symptoms will not be too bad. Take care of yourself.
Get well soon! It's come full circle hasn't it - Cheltenham was a real kick-off point last year.
I have posted about not being 100% safe from infection, even healthy people can still get it and we don't know how effective the jabs are for us - but with 2 jabs you shouldn't be too sick. I too worry about getting it and giving it to my husband - he isn't in a care home but has rotten lungs so it would be the end for him.
Yes Ambassador, it certainly did begin in Cheltenham Festival Races 2020 and now it seems to be rife again in Cheltenham. But why? I am 78 years of age, was double vaccinated in April and May, took every precaution possible including still wearing mask when shopping, yet I got it! Now ten days of isolation - six days to go - and I'm still positive! I have very few symptoms and feel very well.
But I may have infected my husband who is in a care home and cannot see him for two weeks and my children can't see him either until he is cleared. That is what really hurts, let alone inflicting eleven friends into 10 days isolation as well. It all hurts.
This delta variant is very sneaky - and it is now dawning on them that it spreads outdoors too and very quickly, I wear a mask all the time out of the house, even outside. unless eating an icecream
And there is the risk all the time that another variant might develop that escapes the vaccine too. Really we need to be as careful as last year still.
Sad to hear and hope all does goes well. We are supposed to have AZ if over 60 over here in Sydney, Australia which should be available soon (a few weeks).all booked out at present but one GP is going to see if I can get me in on their supply of Pfizer. thinking of you while basically hiding mostly at home at present and wishing you well. After reading the earlier replies here’s hoping u do stay as u are and speedily recover
Thank you Jan for your good wishes. Yes I had the A Z vaccinations in April and May and like everyone else thought I was safe. But bang- on Wednesday started a temperature and following a pcr test, it told me I was positive! Had been with 11 people before. They are now also self isolating for ten days like me. I have an occasional cough but otherwise I’m fine and temperature went within two days. However did a lateral flow test yesterday snd I’m still positive!! Maddening. 6 more lonely days ahead of me but better that than the alternative….
Thank you Jan. I am now fine from Covid but wouldn’t be if I hadn’t had my AZ vaccinations. Sorry to hear if you are in NSW you are in a serious lockdown. What’s wrong with your Govt not giving you the vaccinations?? My son is in Perth and so far they cannot complain snd I think they’re having second vaccinations this week. Thanks for following me. Hope I’m worth it!
Glad you’re not feeling too bad. I’m a Gloucestershire lass...born in stroud, lived in Painswick until I was 10, then moved to Prestbury (it was a village then), & left there to join the WRNS. My dad retired, & he & Mum went to live in Chipping Campden, so they really lived from one end of the county to the other as they met when both were living in Stonehouse! I still have relatives at Benhall & Up Hatherley, & visit when we can. Hope you are much better really soon!
