It finally got me!!!!

So, after 2 1/2 years of being extremely careful, shielding etc, the flamin thing finally got me!! Courtesy of my son and a gig I think!! But thankfully I haven't been too poorly, hopefully due to the 4 vaccinations, inhalers and still being on pred. Quite chesty and a bad head cold but I've just had my 1st negative 6 days after my +ve test. Which means I am clear to go to Wimbledon this week....even if I do have to take it a bit easy. 😊

Do be careful though - it isn't just a cold! My daughter was still feeling rough over a week afterwards.

I will, and I do still feel like I have a cold! I know it won't be like a usual trip to London but I'm just glad I can go. It will be early to bed every night for me....my friend will have her Kindle 😴

Dear PMR PRO, Sorry to see about that glacier breaking off and killing some hikers in your neck of the woods. x

Awful isn't it - still 17 missing. Global warming - had been 10C up the top there, never been above 7C before.

Yes absolutely awful. Doing something so healthy.

Aye well - when you live here you do sometimes wonder how healthy doing things up mountains is - falling off mountain bikes, slipping on damp path and scree and falling hundreds of metres, heart attacks at 2000m, parachutes not opening.

I guess I would like to go to a nice hotel (Forestis (££££) and swim and then just read a book. Breath the fresh air.

I'm considering a couple of nights at a local Refuge, there are several. Not pricey, nothing to disturb you, nature at its most intense! And they transport guests who don't want to walk up and down ...

Now that sounds ideal. My oh and I are planning to fly into Pisa then go to Lucca then on to Genoa and Torino. I would like one day at the beach but my oh is not a water person. I must look up the refuges as that would be great - fresh air and not too hot.

We have lakes with swimming here - nice way of mixing both. I don't like sand in my toes (and elsewhere ;) ) Hope Tuscany et al are not too hot - have been up to nearly 40C and you can't do anything then!

Who knows - we may have to cancel as strikes are planned. That sounds perfect. So where do you fly into?

PMRpro profile image

Depends where you start from! There are flights to Verona, Venice (Marco Polo and Treviso), and Innsbruck if you are lucky - bit of a desert at present according to the daughters! There is a new route to Bolzano, the small regional airport, from London but don't know if it has started or where from in London. I've never flown to/from the UK!

Terrible scene at the airpost atm. Flight cancellations last minute, etc. Plus talk about super spreader event.

My daughters flew out of East Midlands last week - it wasn't too bad, but going back they said Treviso was horrendous and heaving, they were an hour and a half late taking off. I'm glad I can't travel at present - no passport!!!!

Thanks DL, I'm sure I will. If I was at home I'd be back to doing the cooking and jobs...(OH has been very good though) so it will be nice to be away and being looked after. x

Do take it easy. I have had PMR for two years and had just got down to 4mg before I got Covid, very mildly, but it really ruffled things up. I have had to taper back to 10mg and still feeling very stiff in my leg muscles and haven't been able to walk properly since April - sometimes not at all. I can only really attribute this to the virus kicking off PMR almost from scratch again (given that they believe it is a post-viral condition in the first place). I took it easy and still had a bad reaction. Just a mild warning!

Thank you Marion, I hope things settle down with you soon.

Snap! Like you I caught it from my son, on New year's Eve. Husky voice, runny nose and nothing else. Did the regulation 10 days at home in a house of 3 Covid sufferers which became very frustrating as I just had a runny nose for a few days. Enjoy Wimbledon. I've been a few times but many years ago.

Sounds like you have a plan. I had Covid in March after being so careful. Who knows where I got it from. I took it easy for two weeks.Have a great time at Wimbledon.
