An update....vision and flare~!

Well, it seems I'm in the middle of a GCA flare and not feeling very good or very comfortable. I'm taking 20mg of prednisone per day but still having some temple pain, jaw soreness, and back pain. Actually, a lot of soreness I'd forgotten about experiencing initially back in 2019. I'm now splitting the dosage, per the rheumy, 10mg in the am and 10 mg at about 4 PM. That has cut down on the headaches!! No Actemra now and I think it will be a while. I look like a leper; one area on my leg is weeping, although I don't see any torn tissue~~and one open sore I am working on. I have been diagnosed with lymphodema and have a therapy appointment set up for August 2. The lymph nodes in my neck and base of my neck are swollen.

BUT....I don't have Covid. I took upon myself to get a test just to eliminate something. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰ I had a runny nose along with just not feeling too well...and so I thought, I'm pretty sure I can get that off my list.

The biggest thing I had to accept, however, was that my vision in my right eye (my only sighted eye) cannot be improved by prescription lenses. Armed with my laptop, IPad and watercolor paper, off I went to the optometrist. (My ophthalmologist does not do glasses) I didn't care if I had to buy three pairs, so I was pretty disappointed.

The following shocking photo is my present solution; thanks Amazon! The situation is too fluid to invest in any other device. Scary stuff, right? Not even any lipstick on with my miner's magnifiers, light and all!! xoπŸ’– πŸ’–

Don’t know what to say - I’m so sorry for what you are going through. You are an example to us all with your fortitude and coping skills. Really hoping that the sight in your good eye improves as you said things are fluid. Keep us posted. All good wishes ❀️

Stay strong, keep smiling and get well soon. I have those magnifying glasses too, they are wonderful and enable me to continue enjoying my diamond painting.

Diamond painting...interesting. As long as I can paint a bit then I can cherish that activity ...Now if I can figure a way to paint while elevating my legs??? I'm working on it. πŸ’–

Your 'miner's glasses are 'diamond πŸ”· glasses' just like you are.

I won't get all mushy but there are two things that keep me going.....one is all of you. We never have to look far to see someone who is dealing with so much more. Secondly, when I hit a speed bump, I get down in the dumps and have to work on my attitude which is strengthened by faith which ....after I talk to myself for a few days I can usually find acceptance.

I'll just never forget the relief I felt when I found this group in 2019....wow!! folks who knew what I was talking about and had really been through tough times. So, I thank you all..xoxoxo
