Newcastle diet.

I thought I'd give you an update as I'm a week into this diet ncl.ac.uk/media/wwwnclacuk/...

I was a bit miserable Sunday evening as I missed Sunday lunch but took solace that it's only for eight weeks.

No pain, so I've dropped my Pred to 3mgs.

Weighed myself this morning and I've lost slightly over a stone in a week.

Back to my pre-lockdown weight.

Progress from when Karen came from that department and explained the relationship between pred and diabetes.

Good on you for trying it out and then passing the information on.

It’s under ‘Weight Management’ with a Cross Referral to Newcastle Diet. Thanks

That’s a fantastic weight loss, well done.

Thanks Maisie, my GP asked if I had heard of the Newcastle trial, so I researched it and thought I'd give it a try.

My wife has PMR and type II and is doing the diet with me.

She has lost over half a stone in the first week and is delighted.

I definitely feel better and hope my link helps someone else.

That’s amazing, l get so demoralised when I feel I starve myself and only lose a pound or less a week. I need to get myself organised. Thank you for sharing.

Dr Michael Mosley does a diet based on the Newcastle Diet. Also AFAK there are companies that sell 6 week Newcastle Diet kits.Stay safe y'all

But it must be added - please check with your GP before embarking on a Newcastle Diet.

Agree with that. I've been retired from dietetics for 13 years, but we were doing a version of this before then, for overweight patients with diabetes, but always under supervision.

Congratulations Andymurph. That’s brilliant well done. I did the fast800 diet last year (other programs are available) and lost 3 stone in 15 weeks which I have kept off since December and have stayed at healthy weight since. It really worked for me. Before PMR never felt fitter. Oh the irony. Did have a few hard days along the way but found overall very do-able as the motivation of rapid weight loss (which the new research is saying is positive not negative as I used to think) kept me going. And my mantra was if I fell off the wagon just get back on. No catastrophic behaviour ending it all. Just be gentle and kind to yourself and keep going. 👏

Woah, what dose of Pred were you on before dropping down to 3? I once lost nearly a stone in a week and it was due to adrenal problems, dropping from 4 to 3.5. Do you feel OK? No dizziness or light-headedness etc. BTW your original post inspired me, I have sent off for some Exante meal replacement shakes and am going to give it a go

I dropped from 4mg to 3mg.

I spent a week clearing the fridge out prior to starting with the help of a couple of very obliging golden retrievers.

We then stocked up on loads of fresh veg and spices.

I do a very good veg curry with one cal spray which works out less than a 100 calories per portion.

I agree with the talk to your GP advice as this diet is definitely not for the lactose intolerant.

I miss my glass of red but enjoy a decent coffee and mineral water throughout the day.

Good luck.
