Does anyone else have this problem? For the past few years every time I dye my hair it only lasts for a couple of weeks and washes out. it is a permanent dye. i never had this problem before taking prednisone, so this has to have something to do with it - right? It's so frustrating. Any suggestions???

My hair won't take to dye anymore
How about having a morale boosting visit to the hairdresser for some high and low lights? They last ages and look more natural and the grow out doesn’t really show. A good hairdresser will be able to advise on all matters hair and scalp. I love mine.It is unlikely that this can be laid at Pred’s door as well but it certainly changes the condition and texture of our hair. Maybe they’ve changed the product you use? Maybe we are just noticing everything much more.
I will do that. I will treat myself and go to the hairdresser and see if that makes a difference. I sure hope so. I know what you mean about pred changing the hair; mine used to be nice and thick and straight, now it's thinner, getting curly and is darker. I am a strawberry blonde naturally and now it is closer to a dirty blonde shade which is odd. Thank you for your advice, I appreciate it. Maybe I am blaming most things on pred. I will take your advice and let you know how it goes.

I've heard a few people say the same over the years - I don't know, I gave up colouring my hair nearly 30 years ago, went grey way ahead of the curve
I wrote this in a "hair" thread on a different forum:
"On another thread about hair someone said their hair stopped "taking" colour for several months, it just didn't go into the hair. If your hair is in poor condition the chemicals could be another insult to it and may damage the keratin so it becomes even more fragile. If it seems OK though there is no reason why not ."
So it does happen - but no real idea why,
I still have my hair coloured. I did it myself over Lockdown but normally let the hairdresser do it. I did go through a period when the hairdresser’s dye did not work very well but I blamed it in the dye. Perhaps it wasn’t that after all.
Hi the hair needs to be in good condition and free from products to hold the colour , if the hair is very dry the cuticle/ outside of hair will be lifted so it lets the colour in but then it floods back out when washed . A pre wash conditioner can help with this 😊
