Thank you all for your hints, ideas, and encouragement. My lovely husband was my "check" when I tended to eat too much, he would tell me that I didn't need "that", and I would then feel guilty, and not eat it. I miss him every second of every day, even though he died eight years ago. However, this forum is giving me some good ideas, which I will try. Beginning TODAY!!! (except for splitting the Pred dose, because I've already taken the full dose for today)
One thing I have learned on this forum is not to take TOO much notice of GPs who haven't properly looked into PMR and the effects of Prednisolone, and to QUESTION everything. I'm getting there - slowly. A big thank you to you all again. Here's my "hamster face".

Good luck ChrisinNam. It’s not the same as support from a life partner but am here to offer what support I can. Be gentle with yourself and one think I learnt to stop doing if catastrophic thinking. That is if I fell off the wagon a bit (or even a lot) I just started again the next day. I didn’t do usual thing I did which was give up for ever. One slip is easier to overcome than a whole month worth of slips. Rooting for you.
