HI Everyone

Quick update on my progress since last checked in.Reduced Prednisolone from 15mg to 10mg as instructed by Rheumatologist on 28 April.Ache in neck and shoulder now dull and constant.Stiffness in hands and fingers returned.

Have Repeat blood tests tomorrow at GP’s and back at Rheumatologist next Tuesday.Reduce to 5mg on 27 May.

Also had private consultation with physio who feels Rhuemy little premature with his assumptions that it may not be PMR.Physio identified lots of stiffness in top of spine, neck and shoulders.Been given an exercise programme to assist with these issues.

What are people’s thoughts?Any questions I should be asking Rheumatologist?Am concerned with next drop from 10mg to 5mg.Will Keep you posted.

Start with these - why he doesn't think PMR? ..

and what does he think it is?

or is he waiting for you to get to zero?

If it is PMR or GCA then the exercises may make it worse, rather than better, so just be careful. .. and please keep us updated.

Thank you for your reply. On my last visit he thought it could be a bad viral infection suffered at the end of last or beginning of this year.

Meant to ask on my original post.If I have suffered a flare or reaction after dropping from 15mg to 10mg would I expect to see the inflammation markers increase when I undertake the repeat blood tests tomorrow?

If it's a flare - yes.

Correction - should show increase, but sometimes readings lag behind symptoms, but would hope that 3 weeks long enough to show any changes.

It could well be DUE to the viral infection - that it was what upset the immune system and triggered the symptoms of PMR. But I suppose he wants to see for himself!

Never thought of that and thank you for your reply.

My PMR symptoms began soon after a viral infection which lasted six weeks.
