Yesterday I seen a rheumatologist for the first time as my Gp been looking after me. He said let’s get a plan! First thing is my X-rays on spine show crack that’s why my back is so debilitating! Says the pain is probably not linked to PMR. I was on 17.5mg prednisone he’s put down to 15mg said I need to go down slowly as my awful brain fuzzy fog contributed by prednisone. He said all my other joints are good. So summery on a plan to reduce to see how I get on. Recommend swimming as soon as I’m able and Pilates for back. He said my Gp doing a great job taking care of me. So many test been done. And she calls every couple weeks To check on me. He told me I may get odd pains flare up due to reducing. Any feedback welcome. Thank you

Seen Rheumatologist for first time
Good news, just make sure you know the difference between steroid withdrawal pains and a flare.......his description of “odd pains” is a bit wishy washy.
If you’re not sure - this should help you decide-
It's good to hear that your appointment went well. You seem more positive in your outlook after that. Always a good thing when the doctors listen and are open to discussion. I hope you'll be able to take up the activities you mention soon and that your SLOW taper goes well. 😀
Great news sounds like your on track !
Snap! I saw a rheumatologist for the first time yesterday as well. She was surprised how hands off my GP had been! Luckily she’s a fan of the slow taper, not quite as slow as recommended by our gurus here but I intend to work on her if necessary. Good luck with your tapering x
Thank you. Good luck you too x
