Need some Help Please.

On Pred 3mg and been coming down without any problems for quite some time very slowly. Having had covid twice I asked my Dr if I should increase if I have a bad reaction from Astra jab and he said no as 3mg is such a low dose. After having Astra jab had bad reaction poorly for 5 days. Then had flare up. Couldn't stand pain any longer went back to 10mg for week and felt much better. Dropped back to original 3mg but pains are back after last few days - second jab due 1 June and so confused after doing so well. I don't want to yoyo but need to get back on track.

Any advice much appreciated.

Perhaps you should have dropped back to a slightly higher dose first such as 4 or 5mg. I had a bad reaction to the Astra Zeneca jab too. Apparently the first Astra Zeneca one is the worst and the second Pfizer one worse than the first, although my brother in law had Pfizer with no reaction to either.

Agree with piglette, a slightly higher dose than 3mg would probably have solved the problem. Maybe try 5mg for a 5-7 days, then drop to 4mg.

Your issues may have been vaccine related, but could be just coincidental. Normally with a flare, the advise is to drop back down to just above the dose where the issue started.

Someone did post earlier saying her (very good) rheumatologist identified her problems as probably a flare due to the vaccine and told her to up the dose.

A flare is a flare - doesn't matter what caused it.
