I have a new health visitor and the first thing she asked me was "do you need help in the shower"? I just burst out laughing!๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ She must have thought "this old girl REALLY needs help"!

Probably part of their tick off lists that they so love.

Send her over to me. She can cut my toenails!

Not included!! She can cut finger nails but I must attend a professional for anything to do with feet.

Since back fractures, my daughter has had to help me cut toenails ( right foot only, for some reason I can reach the left ). Glad sheโ€™s willing. Crazy what we go through getting older. ๐Ÿ˜ณ.

We never thought we'd be in situations like this, did we? Anyway, we keep going and if we smile and have a giggle on the way it helps a lot. Mind you, if I laugh too much it hurts my sides!!๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿ˜€ I haven't actually needed a professional to cut my toenails- yet! I can't say the thought of anyone touching my feet fills me with joy: too ticklish! One of the first things I did after diagnosis, and when the power of Prednisolone allowed, was to cut my toenails.

Not easy for many older people, even if they haven't got PMR or Arthritis.

I really feel like that about my feet and although I know it is a good thing I hate my diabetic foot check

I sympathise and know that when needs must it has to be done.

Very true. My mother-in-law at age 90 had to pay for chiropody as she had no illnesses to qualify for free treatment. You would think at that age there would be some leniency.

I think it is over 70 here - or younger if justifiable.

No age limit over here - you just have to pay - unless you have diabetes or some other illnesses.

That's fair.

When newly diagnosed and on extra blood pressure tablet which made my legs like tree - trunks overnight I could not get in and out of bath and even needed help while showering to get legs out of shower cabinet step.

That's the story of most of us.

Hi Constance 13 - I realise Iโ€™m late with my comment but Iโ€™ve only just joined this brilliant community and wanted to add some information that may have value to someone.

Piglette is right about the tick list but I wanted to say why it may be important.

The annoying set questions that make you think: โ€˜whatโ€™s that got to do with me?โ€™ all have a score attached to them which add up to how much help you (or your partner) may be offered. So, if you need help with some things, but try to do lots yourself, be careful what you answer.

You literally want as many boxes ticked as possible otherwise you could miss out on the things you really need.

All the best
