Prednisone dose. Happy to report my GP has now prescribed liquid pred. Will start taking tomorrow (Friday) March 19 2021. I will keep posting any new, hopefully improvement of PMR symptoms. Keep your fingers crossed and keep me in your prayers.

Thank you all,

Pomeranion

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I talked to the pharmacist. On the insert sheet with the prescription it recommends potassium addition. He recommended a banana every other day or orange juice. I am on a low/carb diet and the additional sugar might be a concern. Also with the calcium I am taking for my osteoporosis he recommended magnesium. I also have been having some additional pain in my right thigh. Very disconcerting. Never had it before. Do you have any insights?

I haven't ever had a potassium problems on pred. However - they ALWAYS say bananas and they aren't the foods richest in potassium, just very carby! Spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, zucchini/courgette, cucumber - potassium without carbs!

I use magnesium supplements - not all the time, but I use them for atrial fibrillation episodes and never end up with muscle cramps.

Where is the thigh pain? What sort of pain?

Thank you for the mention of magnesium. I've looked at this and with the calcium I'm taking this would be a concern. Usually the dose is 2calcium to 1 magnesium. My endo. didn't even mention K2 or magnesium supplementation. I'm getting really concerned with him. My thigh pain is on my right and it is a cramping feeling. This could really explain it. I am going to start supplementing with magnesium glycinate. It is highly recommended with little effect on the bowels. It has so many benefits.

Stress relief, insomnia, depression, anxiety, much less muscle weakness and cramping. I'll start slow. Also, I have had some improvement today with my PMR.

My shoulders are much better. I can raise my arms above my head. No upper arm discomfort. Decreased overall stiffness. Could this finally be the relief people experience immediately with a much lower initial dose of pred? The liquid might be the answer. Only time will tell. I will try to be optimistic. I owe this all to you for your suggestion about the absorption problem. Please keep me in your thoughts. God bless all of you.

If you haven't been absorbing the oral tablets then you are probably suddenly getting the right sort of response to pred - and with your history I can't imagine why it wasn't thought of before when you needed so much.

What a difference. If only this could have happened 2 months ago. I can only hope that it hasn't damaged any other body functions (eyes, tendons, bones). That is in God's hands. I am just thankful that this may be the remedy and I can continue to feel better and begin to taper the dose to an acceptable level for maintenance. As I said, you have been a Godsend. Keep posting and helping everyone. You are an invaluable resource. Thank you and God bless.
