Hot flashes

I have been on methylprednisolone for PMR since October of 2019. I have had two flares since trying to reduce, and am now on 8mg.for almost two months, with no pain. The last week, I have had a horrible hot flash with red face, sweating and loss of appetite around 5PM everyday. It last for about 45 min. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

I wonder if the time that you take your Pred has anything to do with the regularity of these attacks of hot flashes, lack of appetite and sweating?I also wondered about your blood sugar. I think you need some detective work. I have experienced these symptoms but without the regularity you are experiencing. Perhaps your doctor could run some tests? Is the menopause behind you? Yes, I’m 71. I take 4mg. in the AM., after breakfast and 4mg. in the PM after dinner. I’ve always had to divide it up to get the lasting effects.

So these episodes occur at a time when Pred is at its lowest in your system. Does taking your PM dose make you feel better?I have always found that taking my whole Pred dose in the morning works for me best. Maybe you could experiment with your dose timings?
