Are hot flashes caused by PMR or prednisone withdrawal, or can they be caused by either one?

Cause of Hot Flashes?
I think they are either or both - which is very confusing. I had hot flushes before I was diagnosed and I wasn't menopausal or anywhere near it. As you are a man (are you?) you won't have the hormonal problems that many women do.
Once on Pred the flushes slowly morphed into all over longer sweats, with head sweats being the worst. I dread hot weather, but at least it has improved in that a hot cup of tea is no longer the trigger that it once was.
Yes! Either or both - depends on the person.
Mine wore off as I reduced Pred.
I don't remember having any when I had the condition but before it was diagnosed and I started taking the pred. Not until I got down to about 5 mgs, and since then always associated with a reduction. Come to think of it, I think mine have been caused more by pred withdrawal, but I guess this thing varies a lot from person to person and is also very unpredictable.
We're all different. I had very few hot flashes with menopause, non while on high dose prednisone and started getting a few light and short hot flashes at about 12 mg, which are still continuing at 10.5 mg. Very infrequent though. No sweats as yet.
One of the side effects of prednisone is hot flashes.
Glad I found this! been on 30mg for 2 weeks .. starting big hot flashes (hardly had them during menopause..now MUCH more understanding of all my friends! ) glad to know it is the prednisone...that means it will eventually go away and it won't kill me! onward!
Does it say anywhere above that PMR can be a cause of hot flushes? Just saying!!!
Here's from another site. So...I guess it can be the PMR. I was just assuming prednisone because I have high dose and also I have no pain...so just thought all PMR symptoms were gone.. but certainly it can be PMR. if this is correct :" (I just ate an egg. ! )
Sweats: There can be night sweats, very similar to hot flashes during menopause.
There can also be day sweats. They can come on sudden and within minutes you’re dripping down your back. Another annoying sweat is... profuse sweating on the head with little or no exertion. This can soak a person’s head or leave you with it dripping off your forehead and nose. One person said that increase eating eggs. The body lacks protein. If you try this and it works let us know!"
hi.Thanks! that made me laugh. NOTHING stops them it seems!! I should hardly be taking up space asking about hot flashes... night sweats..but they have surprised me. And I have in front of me the best wealth of knowledge ever!!
