Hi y’all. Has anyone found a good calcium supplement you could recommend? The one the doc prescribed includes soybean oil which can promote inflammation due to high omega 6!!!!!!!!!
Keep well xx

What supplement have you been prescribed? Not a question that I’ve come across over the last 8 years on here, so not sure it a particular problem for most people.
Bit more info about your specific issue, if you have one might help...or is it just a general question?
Hi there.... Calceos is the one from the doctors.
Sorry.... not a specific issue, just trying to counteract the effect of Pred on bones. Have osteopenia and trying to prevent it advancing. Already taking Alendronic acid once a week, but calcium is pretty important to try to stem the damage.
Yes, totally understand...might be worth investigating Adcal-D3 or others then.
Me - still on supplement 4 years after stopping Pred, but did also take AA for 4 years - last DEXA good.
That’s encouraging- have personally been on Pred for 8 years!! No idea why it hasn’t moved on. Constant search for either cause or triggers - along with countering side effects of Pred. Could possibly trace start back to a massive year of stress a year before diagnosis but no real time like that since 🤔
A lot of calcium supplements have soya bean oil in the coating. I have Accrete. There are several on the market without soya bean oil in the coating though.
I used to be on Adcal which was changed to Calcichew, presumably because of contract with drug company. It does not have a coating, seems chalky and quite sweet, which I could do without! Hadn't given any thought to coatings, but interesting issue.
Thank you for replying. Have already done quite a bit of research, but was hoping for more light shed from the massive resource here.... replies (including yours!) have helped. Calceos is the same... chalky and sweet - thanks to sucrose which like you, could do without!
Hi I used to take osteozin (stopped because of kidney stones) it has no soya a very good product as it has all the other important trace elements such as K2 vit D3 magnesium and zinc incorporated in it. The calcium and vit D3 are the same dosage as adcal etc. Also vegetarian’s can take it
Hi Nicobeak 🙂
Have a look at “cytoplan” bone support .
Good mix of calcium , boron, d3, K2 and mag . Not the cheapest but not most expensive .
Best bit is they are really easy to swallow capsules not like some I’ve used before .
Take care x
That’s great. Thanks. Will check it out!
I take one derived from seaweed which is gentle. I had to stop AdCal because of kidney stones and have taken the seaweed version for over a year now without ill effect.
Could you add what it’s called please so can find out more? Thank you
The one I use is from a company called Higher Nature and is called seaweed calcium. However, last time I ordered it they didn't list it anymore but it is still available from other online retailers and I have just seen another manufacturer called Together which has a similar product but it is a little more expensive. I have heard from others on thisd forum that Calcium citrate is also good but I haven't used it.
Higher nature great 😊. Love their products . They do a good l-glutamine powder which is great for supporting body in times of stress .. I like their omega 3 too
Do Magnesium Citrate which is also good for bowel
My rheumatologist said to get calcium from my diet. I haven't found that difficult to do. I have however been taking prescribed 50,000 units Vit D3 once per week and 2000 units vitd2 daily since gca dx 2 years ago.
I was taking one that caused kidney stones. Switched to plant based AlgaeCal, and my bone density scan showed improvement.
Hi PinkertonCatI am assuming you are in the US as I don't think we can get it here in the UK. I've been looking for something similar, It also is good for the muscles.algae-calcium.co.uk/
I take Calci-D-Min made by Hadley Wood Healthcare by Jan de VriesDespite requesting DEXA scan have not been granted one, so I do not how it performs
