Morning shivers

I had got my pred down to 20mg a day from 25mg late Dec. Last week I woke up with swollen neck shoulder and collar bone so went back to 25mg. Although I've improved the swelling and tightness returns in the evenings and I am waking up in a morning in a really cold 🥶 sweat. I've even kept my electric blanket on low but it doesn't stop it happening.

That doesn’t sound very pleasant. Do you mean collar bone area? And which bit of the neck and shoulder are swollen? Is it visible? Is it both sides?

Do you take any painkillers in the night?

Yes definitely swollen collar bone area and neck both sides. I can feel and see it . Shoulders hurt to lift my arms up too. No I was on tramadol but stopped taking it in October as didn't feel it was doing anything

There is one bit that PMR affects that is on the collarbone but if it were PMR I would expect it to be both sides. All you have described in your past posts is really not very typical of PMR - has your GP referred you to a rheumy?

It would be really helpful if you summarised your pred/symptoms in your profile for quick access for others.

My pains/stiffness and swellings affect both sides. I have only spoken on the phone with a rheumatologist who told me I had PMR.

If it is both sides then that IS typical of PMR - there are muscle attachments there - in fact, I think it may be Snazzy's famous sternocleidomastoid muscle and she has made suggestions about that in the past.
