Hi there
Does anyone know when you are on pred if you bruise more easily??
Yes most definitely. I often go round looking as if I have been in a pub brawl.
I am now on 5.5 mg as of today. Already am feeling the cut back. I have been on prednisone now for 13 months. Started at 15 mg. I am starting to have trouble with my feet. I dropped my phone on my left foot about three weeks ago and still have a large bruise on the top and along the outside of my left foot. Also I have noticed some swelling in
My feet off and on. Don’t know what is going on.
I just have to touch my arms, legs, feet, hands and a bruise appears. You could see my osteopath’s finger prints on me!
That’s not good. How long have u been on prednisone and what mg r u on now?
I am on 5mg and have been on pred for around five years.
So you are a long hauler. It’s good to talk to someone who knows a lot about prednisone
I am not sure I am that knowledgable about pred, but I have managed to get an awful lot of the side effects!!
I think yes but I'm only on day 14 so still getting use to pred and pmr, sat I had a slight fall on the stairs my knee gave out on me I hurt wrist as put my hand out to stop me falling and sunday I notice a black bruise by my elbow which I not noticed before so not sure if I banged it when i fell or did it just appear
Absolutely...you may find that arnica cream helps.... your skin becomes much less resilient, and use a good moisturising cream on it - something like Doublebase cream or gel.
I absolutely love my arnica gel,
So you are someone who has a lot of experience with prednisone. Thanks again
Definitely. I remember a patina of bruises all over my stomach. Eventually worked out that it was the tiny kicking legs of my grandson when I changed his nappy.
Absolutely! I have been part of the PMR club for 3.5 yrs plus, have been on 3.5 mg pred. And have heaps of bruises esp. when gardening.I personally would either with my go. Or the pharmacist regarding using arnica in combination with pred. It all gets in the bloodstream and u need to know how they interact.
Oh yes, I only have to nudge something and I bruise. My skin is so thin. I've been on pred for 3 years, now on 3.5 mg. If I try to go down to 3 mg I can feel the symptoms come back. Like the others have suggested, get double base from your GP on prescription
My arms are always black and blue and unsightly and no idea why. Diagnosed in October and on 12.5 mgs pred. Also soft down on my face and I’m just lucky it’s fair
Spontaneous bruising or so it feels like! Also skin tears much easier with the slightest knock. Skin much thinner with Pred
The pred tends to make the walls of the very small blood vessels in the skin more delicate so that they leak more easily in response to a blow. You may bruise as usual or you may develop petechiae/purpurae - small reddish marks that fade to leave a brown mark like an age spot. They tend to appear in the same place and even scratching yourself will make them appear.
Funnily enough, I have less now than I did before despite being at 15mg! Most of my bruising is more likely to be due to the anticoagulant drug I take though.
Yes, yes and yes. Can find a great big bruise and be unaware how it came about! For known and painful bruises I am also a supporter/user of arnica cream and tabs. Tabs are good for shock too, ie after a fall.
Absolutely been on pred over 3 years down to 3 mg a day accidentally stubbed my toe and you might have thought I had broken my foot yes to easily bruising
I am waiting to be officially diagnosed been on 10 mg pred. reduced in 3 months since symptoms started in October, I have been bruising lots lately, I have had to go private as the wait for NHS referral is 9 to 12 months because of Covid, any advice of what I should ask the consultant or what will happen on my first appointment 11.1.21 thank you Janet
Yes. I have a huge bruise on the outer side of my upper arm and don’t know what I did to it. It is taking ages to go too. I am taking 9mg of pred and 10 mg of leflumonide daily.
