No Prednisone

I have been off Prednisone for 11 months. I am OK, but still have weakened leg muscles and walk funny...bumping into things. Another problem is with Wha I believe ( no doctor yet) is Lymphatic Colitis. The problem started in August, 6 months after stopping Prednisone. In doing my research I did find a connection to PMR. I had a lot of swelling before the diagnosis of PMR, Had swollen feet and hands and legs. I wonder if the inflamed bowel is part of the healing process.

Have you tried dietary changes to rule out the usual culprits like dairy or gluten? However, really any change in bowel habit needs investigation because a variety of things can manifest as a bowel upset.

I can not offer anything helpful re bowels, but I do use a balance board to improve leg muscles and balance. More useful than I thought it would be!

Good to hear you are still off pred.

If you mean this paper:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

I'm really not sure that having 2 patients in a cohort of 171 can be seen as a link - correlation is not causation. If you mean this

ard.bmj.com/content/74/Supp...

then the link is with autoimmune disease in general rather than PMR in particular.

I don't think inflammation of that sort would be part of a healing process either.

One question that has to be asked is whether it was really "just" PMR as there is a form of inflammatory arthritis that is associated with the gut. There are also a few people who have developed gluten-intolerance along with PMR - have you tried a gluten-free diet for a couple of months? I, OTOH, don't have a problem with gluten but modern commercial wheat causes problems for me.

Appreciate the information. One article, I read, specifically mentioned PMR. I understand much research needs to be done on this condition. I am able to control my problem with Metamucil, however, I wondered if there were others experiencing that problem. I thought perhaps, as my body was healing, there was a process to eliminate all the excess Lymphatic fluid that I had accumulated preceding my PMR diagnosis. I am less swollen and that is a blessing. My feet and hands are now more normal...Thank you..🌹
