Taking tablet later than usual

Normally take my tablets at 7am each morning but this morning i thought I would watch tv in bed and have a lazy lay in with no or having no work .

But my pains came on quite badly with taking my tablets that 2 hours later than normal .. will try not to do that again

You sometimes thnk the steroids aren’t working but today I realised how much they must help as I could feel the pains more than ever just by taking them that 2 hours later :(

I don’t know how eating more (Christmas dinner) has an effect on my pains. Hope you feel better soon

Yes I replied to you, being on a low carb diet eating more can have an effect on pains.I usually take my tablets before 8 a.m. but occasionally a bit later and it doesn’t seem to make much difference to me. It is my diet that I reckon has an effect.

Remember that the inflammatory chemical called Interleukin 6 is released in the wee small hours around 4am. So if you didn't take your Pred until 9 am , you have had inflammation building unchecked for 5 hours. Depending on the level of disease activity and your dose of Pred and the rate at which your body metabolises Pred this could be why you are struggling. We all forget our doses sometimes but sadly we pay the price sometimes.

Hi, since being on here and trying different times I now take mine at 2.30am and I feel much better, no aches and more energy. As PMR said you don't have the inflammation build up. I know we are all different but it's made my life more manageable both physically and mentally.

With the research showing that the main problem of release of interleukin-6, cause of pain with PMR, is between 2-3am, I have found that taking the pred at night has helped a lot. Christmas comes but once a year, thank goodness from the carb pint of view

I take my Pred around 02:00 with a banana and some yogurt and have had no problems during the day. Biggest thought now is how to reverse the enthusiastic eating and drinking over the Christmas period!!!!
