A little information

I just returned from hospital after 2 days, I had a TAVR aortic valve repair on my heart. For weeks before procedure I agonized over whether to raise my daily dose of 2.5 mg prednisone. I decided to be optimistic, and not do so, because I could always increase dosage on having adverse effects. So far all has gone well. I have the usual stiff legs, especially early morning.

PEACE

So glad that you are more than fine and in a happy place. Love to you and Lily. 💝I wonder if altering the time you take your Pred could ease the morning stiffness eg early hours and go back to sleep?

Thanks for reply. During last 2 years, I have tried various methods, but found that taking in the morning at about 6a.m. works best for me

Don't be too proud to seek some help or take a bit more pred if that is what it needs - it won't be forever and it is a really low dose so you are very likely to be battling poor adrenal function too.

Yes, I will follow your advice, as of now O.K.

Sorry to learn that you are understandably struggling, following your surgery. Very glad that you have shared it with us. That is half the battle. Look forward to hearing more from you. X

Thanks for comment. Actually, I am doing well. It is a matter of getting over physical and some mental trauma. My children who live near me are very supportive. I felt that by sharing it may help someone else in our continual struggle with PMR. If I find that I have to increase dosage, I will accept it. Not the end of the world. :)

That motivates a lot of us on here Noosat. I have gained so much from the amazing members on the site. Even my excellent Rheumatologist, was recommended by PMRPro.I envy you having family near by, mine are in Australia 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren.

Congratulations and well done 👏

It is nice to hear that you have found a way to be still, quiet and recover! You are to be commended. I found that taking prescription celebrex helped considerably when tapering prednisone. My Dr. at Johns Hopkins suggested it. Don't know if it is something that you can take ,but I am pain free for over a year now. I have a little stiffness in the morning, but hardly notice. I'm 63 ,so I would expect that. I was on pred for over 3 years. Good luck to you and keep looking up. 🙏

Thank you ! I feel great to-day. I had been suffering from 2 nights of about 3 hours of sleep each night. However, last night took a Benedril pill and slept for about 9 hours. Hurrah !!!!!
