Dosage Dilemma

Felt unwell last week - doctor visited and took urine sample which immediately tested clear. It was considered that I was suffering ‘stress’ as my husband had that day gone into hospital for heart surgery, It was suggested that I increase to 10mg Pred. Doctor telephoned me yesterday to say urine tested at Lab had shown infection and prescribed antibiotics. Could I immediately to 7.5mg - I had been at 7mg for 2 weeks - or should I reduce more slowly again?

You can go down to 7.5mg in one step, but the stress of hubby's operation is more likely to be the issue as much the infection - so if it were me I stick at 10mg for a few more days, say 5.

He is being discharged today but has been difficult time. And more to come I am sure

And yes, you are still going to be stressed for some time... so don’t forget to look after YOU!

You should be able to drop back to the former dose if it is within 7-10 days and the only reason you went up was to try and deal with a perceived flare.
