Reasons to be cheerful

For those of us who can remember the heady days of the 1970’s and the wonderful Ian Dury and the Blockheads. I felt this weeks optimistic post should be based upon a man who coped extremely well with disability and who demonstrated in words, songs and actions how he coped.

So what are my three then for the week? Oh so many to choose from, which far override the negatives. So first off:

Prednisilone reduced and now at 60mg for 14 days. Had a few little sensation issues, but settled down nicely and feeling the benefits sleep wise: the odd time I take a half dose of Zopiclone, it works much more effectively and I get a night’s respite (5 blissful hours last night).

Exercising more. Taking advice from members here and my own body. My highest step count has been 9200 in a day + 2 separate sessions on my new exercise bike- lowest setting and heart rate monitored to keep below 90. Short walks, interspersed with proper rest periods - great for me, time spent with my wife J outside and Ollie the Collie missed me terribly from the pack. I am really pleased that my family “pack” notice my absence and I try to understand the angst that they are experiencing.

Finally and nothing to do with me directly. My 20 year old has become a Police Officer. He is concerned that I might miss his passing out parade. What more incentive could I have to care for myself to ensure that I get to see that and he can show to his proud parents that he can make his own way in life.

YouTube has a habit of doing this - was is it?

It was a video clip of Ian Dury performing. What an inspiration he was.

I am trying to post a positive update each week, rather than what is not going so well 😀. Next week’s strap line is waiting!

Yes - he lived a very colourful life!

Vid worked for me! My reason to be cheerful today is my blood test results are through, my blood sugar levels have gone down from getting awfully close to type two diabetes. Nothing like a dog to get you walking again.
