Hi. Stumbled onto both PMR and this forum when researching autoimmune issues. Note: not diagnosed (yet) with PMR, but do have OA to the point of needing hip replacement.
My question is: can you have PMR if your shoulders aren’t really involved? I don’t have much pain in shoulders, as most of my pain is in hip flexors, glutes, pelvic girdle, and some low back. This has been going on for over a year, but everyone seems to think it’s just the OA and my muscles being very tight. My best response to them was that it feels like it’s almost cellular. Not just a sore muscle. Much worse in am and when I’ve been sitting for awhile. I now have to use a cane, can’t get socks and shoes on, and hard to get in/out of car. It just because my hip joint is going, but because of all the other muscle pain.
Saw first Rheumatologist last year, she didn’t think it was RA - never mentioned PMR. Am trying to get in to see another one as a Nephrologist I saw us making the referral.
Sorry for the ramble. Just looking for possible dx.
Thanks very much.
