So far it has been an overall improvement. GD.I have referred to the post explaining the inflammatory chemical{Interleukin 6} which the body produces around 4am. which reflects how are symptoms are.. Please only take this as my results so far...Look up a post "Timing of Pred doses in PMR. Thx. MJM
I know all the background - but taking the pred only at 3-4am means the inflammatory substances are already there before the pred is inthe system - it must be absorbed from the stomach first and if it is prednisone it must be processed in the liver to become prednisolone so that is a good 2 hours.
If you goal is to beat 4AM cytokines at the start, you may have better results if you take steroids 2 hours BEFORE, about 2am or so. That is how long it takes to achieve absorption and max dose in the blood stream. I go to bed late, and take them about 1am or so and have been doing that for several years. It helps to start day without usual stiffness typical for PMR.
I take mine between 2 and 3am each morning & have done since a couple of months into the disease. I don’t sleep that well due to pain from other conditions & never set an alarm. I eat one biscuit & take lanzoprozole at the same time...I must admit I thought 4am is a bit late. It definitely improved my ‘can’t get out of bed in the morning issues’! Hope it helps you!
I am also setting my alarm for approx 3.30 as I was really stiff and pained for quite a few hours (after taking about 7) whilst on lock down. I am in the process of returning to work and also tapering and couldnt even consider functioning normally as the pain and stiffness was just too severe. So far so good.
