Hi all, well over this last few months I seem to be having a flare of pain and swelling! My wrists have been so painful and swollen I seemed to have developed a large swollen lump on the side of my left wrist, my hands were swollen enough that I could not get my rings off and I thought my watch was going to break! I found some wrist braces I got a while ago and now am wearing them on both wrists. The pain then travels to my arms then my shoulders. My fingers and knuckles also suffer. My knees are swollen to double their size and don't get me started on my feet. Ankle bone cannot see now and twice the size. Do you think it would be worth ringing up remey nurse, but don't know what to ask? I think some of my medication has stopped working! After I have finished work my feet are so flipping painful I can hardly walk!! I have gone back to work 3 days a week and don't want to be on the sick! After my work day I crawl home and have to lie down with my feet up, take pain killers and put ibuprofen gel all over my feet, but then my whole body decides to hurt too.
Sorry for the long message. I don't know what to do?

Please, please get in touch with your Rheumatology Department. It really sounds like something unwelcome has joined the party. I don’t want to guess. Of course you are over doing things by working, have you no choice at all? Or an amendment of some of your duties?
I didn’t look up your condition. Is it PMR?
PMR does not behave like this other conditions do. Let us know when you discover more.
Hi Carol - do you realise you have posted in the PMRGCAuk forum rather than NRAS? Nothing you describe fits with our experiences and I think you really do need to get hold of your medical team because you are in an acute flare.
Having just read Carolsos I realise my symptoms parallel hers almost exactly. I was originally diagnosed with RA but then told it was PMR. I will transfer to the NRAS forthwith so as to be in the correct place. Thank you for your earlier very helpful advice about Prednisolone.
Actually I am not nearly as bad as she is. I can still walk ok and do most things although wrists are painful most of the time and swollen and shoulders are getting worse.
